Title: Student Web Developer
Department: Information Services and Technology (IS&T) Web Team
Reports To: Application Development & Support Manager
Position Summary: The Student Web Developer is responsible for coding, researching and developing websites and web pages for the Web Team’s clients.

Job Duties:

  • Coding, researching and developing websites and web pages
  • Upgrading and redesigning existing web pages
  • Other duties as assigned

Accountabilities:

  • Complete projects in a timely fashion
  • Understand and implement current web standards
  • Provide documentation for all code
  • Keep all web projects organized
  • Ensure security of all websites
  • Attend required meetings and training

External:

  • IS & T clients, including Washington University faculty and staff

Internal:

  • IS&T Staff
  • IS&T Web Developers

Qualifications:

  • Meet STaRS hiring criteria
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of team
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technical concepts
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to complete work assignments on schedule with a high degree of accuracy
  • Familiarity with web development software, such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Eclipse
  • Familiarity with Microsoft web development environment and tools
  • Basic familiarity with other open source web development environment and tools
  • Exposure to web programming languages that include: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP, ASP.NET, PHP
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A strong desire to learn
  • Reliable attendance and professional manner
